Dr. Bob Merrill Ordained Deacon in 2008, Ordained to the Priesthood 2009

St. Bartholomew’s has been very blessed the past few years with the addition of new clergy and with the wonderful events that have occurred in the spiritual journeys of various parishioners.

In 2008, Dr. Bob Merrill, who had come to St. Bartholomew’s as a bi-vocational lay vicar, graduated from the Iona School of Ministry and was ordained a Deacon.

The following January, he was ordained priest at St. Bartholomew’s and assumed the position of rector.

Shortly thereafter, we were joined by Dr. Lee Ligon-Borden, who was a student in the Iona program. She graduated in June 2009 and was ordained a Deacon.

Bishop High visited St. Bartholomew’s the next day, giving Deacon Lee a chance to serve her first time as a deacon with the Bishop.

As Deacon, Lee trained several acolytes, and Fr. Bob installed them in early January of 2010.

On January 30, 2010, Lee was ordained a Priest at St. Bartholomew’s by Bishop Dena Harrison.

In June, we had the first investiture of a Verger at St. Bartholomew’s when Susan Ashley-Lafitte was invested.

On July 11, Bishop Harrison came for a visit. It was a beautiful service, with Dwain Wiedemann confirmed and Alice Burland received.

We give thanks to Christ our Lord for all that He is doing in us, through us, and among us and pray that in all things we do “He might have the preeminence” (Col 1:18b).
